Product Description

Remmers Funcosil BI is a colorless, solvent-based impregnation based on silane/siloxane, specially developed for concrete, precast concrete, and fiber cement. The product penetrates deeply into the material, providing long-lasting protection against moisture, driving rain, and de-icing salt damage, while preserving the natural appearance of the surface.

Funcosil BI is ideal for both renovation and new construction projects, extending the lifespan of mineral surfaces exposed to harsh weather conditions.

Applications

Funcosil BI is suitable for:

• Protecting façades against driving rain

• Concrete, precast concrete, and fiber cement surfaces

• Protection against penetration of de-icing salts

• Prevention of frost and de-icing salt damage

Not suitable for: solvent-sensitive materials such as polystyrene or bitumen.

Consumption

• Concrete: approx. 0.3–0.5 l/m²

• Aerated concrete: approx. 1.0 l/m²

• Fiber cement: approx. 0.3 l/m²

Always determine the exact consumption on a test area of 1–2 m² to check optimal absorption.

Application

1. Surface preparation: ensure the substrate is clean, dry, and dust-free. Remove any residues from cleaning agents. Repair cracks, damage, or defective joints beforehand.

2. Application: apply the impregnation without pressure by flowing or using a low-pressure spray; avoid misting.

3. Treatment: let a 30–50 cm liquid film flow over the surface and immediately work it in with a wide block brush or suitable brush.

4. Repetition: repeat the treatment multiple times (at least twice) wet-on-wet until no further absorption is visible.

5. Protection: protect treated surfaces from rain, wind, sun, and condensation.

6. Cleaning: remove excess product within 1 hour using Dilution V 101.

Application conditions: material, ambient, and substrate temperature between +10°C and +25°C.

Tools and Cleaning

Storage and Shelf Life

• Store unopened containers in a cool, dry, frost-free place for at least 24 months.

• Use opened containers as soon as possible.

Safety Instructions

• When spraying: wear respiratory protection with an A/P2 combination filter, eye protection, gloves, and suitable clothing.

• Dispose of leftover product according to local regulations. Completely empty containers can be recycled. Do not pour into drains or sewers.
